Trading #TheStrat

Here are some infos and help on how I trade #TheStrat, a trading strategy developed by Rob Smith

Disclaimer: I’m not a financial advisor and document that trades and setups for my own learning and trading. They are only for training purposes!

What is #TheStrat?

TheSTRAT is a trading strategy that consists of only 3 scenarios

  • Inside Bars (Scenario 1)
  • Directional Bars (Scenario 2, with a 2u for up, 2d for downward)
  • Outside Bars (Scenario 3)

TrendSpider has a great explanation in their knowledge base with all possible patterns as well. It gets clearer once you saw the patterns in the cheat sheets down here.

Cheat Sheets

Two cheat sheets to see all the possible strategies available. These sheets are not created by me, I downloaded it from Twitter and several other “Stratters” share this too, so I think it’s o.k. to share here too. If not feel free to reach out to me and I’ll remove it.

You can right-click on the images and download it in a higher resolution to your computer.

My favorite TheStrat setups

I like to play the reversals in that order:

  • 1-2-2 RevStrat Reversal up and down
  • 3-1-2 Chicago Reversal both directions
  • 2-1-2 Reversal both directions

I try to avoid playing continuation patterns because there is no clear profit target for me, but since every day there are some reversals to play, I don’t need to play them at all.

How I trade?

I currently chart and scan the market with TrendSpider were I have created some of the scanners for my favorite plays listed above that scan through a Watchlist with my favorite stocks. There are around 30-40 tickers in that list, which is quite a lot to find some reversals nearly daily or weekly.

Trading is on Interactive Brokers were I trade options both Calls and Puts for daytrades.

Daily journal

Not really daily, but when I trade or callout triggers here I add them to the Trading category of my Micro.blog.
